Maybe it’s the constraint of having to work within those tiny diary squares,
but I’ve started to lose interest in keeping an art diary.
When I look at the drawings in other people’s diaries,
I often see cups, coffee pots, animal faces, plants, or food illustrations.
But since I prefer expressive artwork,
I’m not really interested in drawing things with clearly defined outlines.
And when I use materials that don’t produce sharp lines,
those small diary spaces feel even more limiting.
It’s not like my drawings are incredibly original…
but I think I’ve made a fair amount of small drawings in the way I wanted.
Now, I feel like drawing more freely on large sheets of paper.

I sometimes feel like redrawing those small art diary pieces onto large sheets of paper.
Parts I couldn’t draw because of the limited space…
or starting from them and adding new elements in different ways. (Like I mentioned earlier.)
I used to think about doing collage work, but right now, that doesn’t feel quite right.
What I really want is to feel the touch of pencil tips or brushstrokes against the paper.
